Universal S Type Load Cell FS4A is strain gauge based intended for traction and compression force measurement. S Beam Load Cell FS4A offers 0-2kg / 0-5kg / 0-10kg / 0-20kg / 0-30kg / 0-50kg six rated measuring ranges to choose from. M6 metric threaded holes located on both ends can be used to mount attachments such as eye bolts and hooks for adapt to different cases. Load cell glossary:

Wheatstone Bridge:A Wheatstone bridge is a network of four resistive legs. One or more of these legs can be active sensing elements. The Wheatstone bridge is the electrical equivalent of two parallel voltage divider circuits. R1 and R2 compose one voltage divider circuit, and R4 and R3 compose the second voltage divider circuit. The output of a Wheatstone bridge is measured between the middle nodes of the two voltage dividers.
Excitation: The voltage applied to the input terminals of the load cell.

Rated Capacity: The maximum axial load the load cell is designed to measure within its specifications.

Non-linearity: The maximum deviation of the calibration curve from a straight line drawn between the no-load and rated outputs; expressed as a percentage of the rated output and measured on increasing load only.

Non-repeatability: The maximum difference between load cell output readings for repeated loadings under identical loading and environmental conditions.

Hysteresis: The maximum difference between load cell output readings for the same applied load; one reading obtained by increasing the load from zero and the other by decreasing the load from rated output; usually measured at half rated output and expressed in percent of rated output.

Creep: The change in load cell output occurring with specified period of time, while under load, and with all environmental conditions and other variables remaining constant; usually measured with rated load applied.

Safe Overload: The maximum load in percent of rated capacity which can be applied without producing a permanent shift in performance characteristics beyond those specified.

Ultimate Overload: The maximum load in percent of rated capacity which can be applied without producing a structural failure.

Operating Temperature: The extremes of temperature within which a load cell will operate without permanent adverse change to any of its performance characteristics.

Output signal of load cell and amplifier:
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output of S-Type Load Cell FS4A is normally around 2.0mV/V.
Power supply of S-Beam Load cell FS4A is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the output range of S Type Tension Compression Load Cell FS4A is normally within -30mV…+30mV for bidirectional force measurement.
Example one: Universal S Type Load Cell FS4A-20kg with 2.0mV/V sensitivity powered by 5V DC, the output range is -10mV...+10mV.
Example two: M6 Threaded S-beam Load Cell FS4A-2kg with 2.0mV/V rated output powered by 10V DC, the output range is -20mV...+20mV.
The mV/V output from the wheatstone bridge sometimes can hardly be processed directly, a signal conditioner can be used with the load cell to deliver -5~5V, 0-10V or 4-20mA output.
Example one: S-type Tension Compression Load Cell FS4A-5kg working with amplifier FSC(-5-5V)-24V, the Load-Voltage relationship will be 0-5kg compression force VS 0-5V output, 0-5kg traction force VS 0-(-5V), which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 1V output corresponds to 1kg compressive load, (-2V) output corresponds to 2kg tensile load, and so on.
Example two: S-beam Tension Compression Sensor FS4A-10kg working with amplifier FSC(4-12-20mA)-24V, the Force-Current relationship will be 0-10kg compressive force VS 12-20mA output, 0-10kg tensile force VS 12-4mA, which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 12mA output corresponds to “0” load, 12.8mA output corresponds to 1kg compression load, 8mA output corresponds to 5kg tension load, and so on.
